As Amazon makes a huge push to become the biggest clothing retailer — online or brick-and-mortar — in the country, clothing has become the best-selling category in e-commerce for the first time ever.

As the just-released chart from comScore shows, online clothing sales outpaced computer hardware sales for the first time ever in 2015. The clothing and accessories category was the top-selling e-commerce category in three of the four quarters of 2015.

Several factors are big contributors to this trend. ComScore cites the rise of mobile commerce, but the trend of free shipping and free returns has made more people comfortable with purchasing clothing online, too.

Then there’s Amazon, which has aggressively expanded its selection of clothing in the last few years and is projected, by some analysts, to pass Macy’s as the top clothing retailer in the U.S. by next year.
